About Camden Community Connections (CCC)
Founded in 1988 Narellan/ Camden Neighbourhood Centre (as it was then) was started when a group of mothers decided they were tired of having no community services and facilities in the town. The six women formed a committee to lobby for a Community Centre and succeeded.
A couple of name changes later Camden Community Connections (CCC) is still going strong, bringing the community together by providing a range of activities and services for residents and businesses in the Camden local government area.
We are run by a management committee who are all members of the local community with paid staff running the day to day operations.
CCC is an independent organisation and has no religious or political affiliations.
So what does this really mean?
In 2007/8 over 5000 people used services and activities provided by CCC. We also supported over 60 community groups and organisations. Here are a few highlights from 2007/8;
• Playgroups: CCC currently runs and supports 4 playgroups.
• Toy Library: The CCC Toy Library has over 100 members and we hope to make this 200 within the next 12 months. We are currently investing in new equipment to make the toy library even better.
• Newsletter: We provide this newsletter free of charge to over 10,000 households quarterly.
• Training: We have run a variety of training including first aid, parenting courses, computer courses (in conjunction with TAFE and Camden Library Services).
Camden Community Connections currently has 5 staff to look after the day to day operations. As well as more specific roles we can provide you with information on activities and services in the area, photocopying, faxing, laminating and other office services. Our specific roles are;
